We are overjoyed to announce that Alain Zirah, a distinguished member of our Royal House of Septimania, has been conferred with the courtesy noble rank of Prince of Marseille, a title of great esteem and honour. Prince of Marseille is a historic title that dates back to the 6th century, when the city was part of the Ostrogothic Kingdom of Italy, ruled by the illustrious Theodoric the Great12
Theodoric the Great was the king of the Ostrogoths from 471 to 526, and the ruler of the independent Ostrogothic Kingdom of Italy from 493 to 526. He was also a patrician of the Eastern Roman Empire and the regent of the Visigoths. He was born in Pannonia, the son of King Theodemir, a Germanic Amali nobleman, and his concubine Ereleuva. He was educated in Constantinople, where he learned Graeco-Roman culture and values. He was a brilliant military commander and a wise and tolerant ruler, who upheld a Roman legal administration and scholarly culture, while promoting a major building program across Italy. He expanded his realm into the Balkans, Spain, and North Africa, and established hegemony over the Burgundian and Vandal kingdoms. He was one of the greatest rulers of the early Middle Ages, and his legacy influenced many aspects of the Hellenistic and Germanic worlds345
By bestowing Alain Zirah the rank of Prince of Marseille, we acknowledge his achievements and contributions to our House, and we entrust him with the task of preserving and promoting our Septimanian identity and values. We also celebrate his connection to Theodoric the Great, who was the founder of the Septimanian kingdom and the protector of Marseille, a city of culture, commerce, and faith67
We congratulate Alain Zirah on his noble rank, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours. We are proud to have him as a member of our Royal House of Septimania.
